Komedal Road – Island Studio

We will be open this weekend – starting with an evening celebration on …

Fri. (August 1st) – 5:00 to 8:00 – with a little bubbly and chocolate cake (gluten free)!

we will also be open this weekend on … Sat. (August 2nd) – 10:00 to 5:00

and Sun. (August 3rd) – 10:00 to 5.00 – with a little homemade blackberry pie

being served throughout the day (also gluten free)!

We have spent the last month or so working hard on this little space …

and as it all started to come together

I felt truly grateful to have a place that I can feel free to be my creative self …

something that my heart has been craving for a very, very long time!!

and now …

well let’s just say it’s finally starting to come together …

and yes – this is most definitely going to be my new happy place!!

The Komedal Road – Island Studio is located in the old Bainbridge Blues studio space

(which some of you may remember)

and we couldn’t be more excited to be back!!

After this weekend …

Komedal Road’s studio will be open to the public the first weekend of every month.

(same weekends as Art Walk)

We will be changing it up each month with seasonal colors and so much more …

including some local featured artists here and there as well!

In September …

we will be adding design workshops and classes at our new additional space right next door!

Currently we are in the process of remodeling that space as well …

it will have a bit more of an art-studio vibe! Can’t wait to share!!

As a reminder … our very first class is the …

“Paint like a Pro”

workshop!!

It will take place over the weekend of September 6th and 7th!!

The workshop is being taught by the very sweet Louisa Blackmore from Bedford England.

She is a talented designer & furniture restorer …

and has wonderful website and blog called west egg!

Her two day class will cover furniture painting, restoration, upholstery, and decorative techniques.

And of course – tasty food and refreshments will also be included!

right here on beautiful Bainbridge Island!!

The instructor behind this wonderful workshop is the very talented …

Louisa Blackmore!

Louisa is not only a talented designer … but also a fabulous blogger (www.westegg.co.uk) … and an experienced furniture restorer all the way from Bedfordshire England!!

In this wonderful two day workshop Louisa will cover the following topics …

Choosing furniture; how to source pieces and what to look out for.
Preparation tips for all types of furniture including heavily varnished pieces.
Basic repair work, how to remove stains, guidance on the tools and materials required.
Furniture painting using Autentico chalk paints.
Waxing unpainted furniture and finishing techniques for unpainted furniture.
Different decorative techniques for painted furniture including distressing and authentic French country style, crackle effect, decoupage and gilding.
Finishing techniques including waxing, varnishing and sealing.
Basic upholstery – how to upholster simple projects such as a drop in seat dining chair, stool or footstool.

The cost of the workshop is $470.00 and includes all materials including paints and waxes, notes covering each stage of the project with full instructions, breakfast, lunch and refeshments during the workshop, and a skype follow-up call (up to 1 hour) anytime after the workshop.
