We are slowly getting settled into our new

“Bainbridge Island Studios”

. . . . .

Our Art Studio, which is right next door to my Design Studio

is finally getting it’s last coat of paint in my all time favorite true white color …

Benjamin Moore – “Super White”

It has always been my go-to white when I don’t want to see any traces of other colors.

I think it is the perfect color for this space as I want it to be all about the art …

and not necessarily about the space.

I am happy with the way the space is coming together

but there is still lots of work to be done!

We need to add an art sink, a clean up area, more storage cabinets,

and lots of shelving needs to be installed …

not to mention that the restroom which needs to be remodeled!

It seems like the list goes on and on …

So – until I can actually get in here and start playing around a bit with some art …

I have decided to bring in some beautiful seasonal flowers

to brighten up the space!

And flowers – well … they always make me HAPPY!!

I am especially loving all the cabbages and kales you can find this time of year!!

And – you don’t have to do a huge amount of planting to make them look good …

just stick them is a cool pot and you are good to go!!

The plants you see here came mostly from

“Thistle Floral and Home”

which is owned by my dear friend Shannon Castillo.

My next post will be a little “One on One” with her …

Tonight is First Friday Art Walk for the month of October here on Bainbridge Island …

and although our whole load isn’t yet back yet from Texas – I did manage to

squeeze in a few Texas goodies in from my recent trip to Round Top – Texas!!

From GORGEOUS European Linens …

to small WONDERFUL items such as the little equestrian dish …

and anything else that I could manage to fit into my suitcase!!

We will be open tonight (Friday Oct 3rd) from 5 to 7pm

(not any earlier please – as I just got home and I still need to price everything!)

We will also be open tomorrow (Oct. 4th) and Sunday (Oct. 5th) from 10 – 5 both days!

Remember – we are only open the First Friday Weekend of every month – so catch us while you can!

as for next month’s art walk – we will be bringing all the big items home from Texas for our first ever …

Style
Gathering inspiration and fresh ideas and how to translate them into stunning images.

How to communicate your brand in an authentic and effective way.

Styling vignettes and lifestyle shots.

Using colour palettes to reflect your style.

Tips on interiors photography and practical advice.

Substance

Top 10 Must Have List for setting up a new interiors business.

Practical do’s and don’ts for business management.

How to set up a website for services or e-commerce.

Marketing on a shoe-string.

Social media and how to use it effectively to promote your business.

During this one day workshop, we will be discussing all aspects of starting up a successful business from our own experience so you can learn from all our mistakes and we will share our top tips for success. Plus, you will be among others in exactly the same boat as you, something I wish that I had had before starting my business. We will cover a lot of material which is designed to give you a really good springboard for launching your own business.

And …

lunch, snacks and all refreshments are also included …

and let’s just say that this girl is AMAZING in the kitchen as well!!

For this workshop – all materials are provided.

Louisa does recommend bringing a camera, ideally a DSLR but even an iphone would be suitable.

Also – notepads, etc… so you can take notes if you wish.

Please join us in celebrating

the opening of our new studio space …

Komedal Road – Island Studio

We will be open this weekend – starting with an evening celebration on …

Fri. (August 1st) – 5:00 to 8:00 – with a little bubbly and chocolate cake (gluten free)!

we will also be open this weekend on … Sat. (August 2nd) – 10:00 to 5:00

and Sun. (August 3rd) – 10:00 to 5.00 – with a little homemade blackberry pie

being served throughout the day (also gluten free)!

We have spent the last month or so working hard on this little space …

and as it all started to come together

I felt truly grateful to have a place that I can feel free to be my creative self …

something that my heart has been craving for a very, very long time!!

and now …

well let’s just say it’s finally starting to come together …

and yes – this is most definitely going to be my new happy place!!

The Komedal Road – Island Studio is located in the old Bainbridge Blues studio space

(which some of you may remember)

and we couldn’t be more excited to be back!!

After this weekend …

Komedal Road’s studio will be open to the public the first weekend of every month.

(same weekends as Art Walk)

We will be changing it up each month with seasonal colors and so much more …

including some local featured artists here and there as well!

In September …

we will be adding design workshops and classes at our new additional space right next door!

Currently we are in the process of remodeling that space as well …

it will have a bit more of an art-studio vibe! Can’t wait to share!!

As a reminder … our very first class is the …

“Paint like a Pro”

workshop!!

It will take place over the weekend of September 6th and 7th!!

The workshop is being taught by the very sweet Louisa Blackmore from Bedford England.

She is a talented designer & furniture restorer …

and has wonderful website and blog called west egg!

Her two day class will cover furniture painting, restoration, upholstery, and decorative techniques.

And of course – tasty food and refreshments will also be included!
